Saudi Arabia to add 800,000 higher education seats by 2030, focused on technology, AI: report

Mansoor Ahmed, the Director for Healthcare, Education, and PPP at Colliers International, highlighted that Saudi Arabia’s higher education sector is the largest individual education market in the Arabian Gulf region.

The 2023 International Exhibition of Educational Technology and Innovation, an annual event showcasing leading brands in technology and digital content for education, placed a primary emphasis on the importance of AI in education.

The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2023 points to a shift towards AI, Big Data, and new technologies in the next five years. 

This initiative, focusing on digital skills like AI, coding, and robotics, aims to amplify girls’ exposure to STEM careers and bridge the gender disparity in the tech-driven world. Concurrently, teachers received training on gender-responsive STEM education, ensuring a comprehensive approach to fostering girls’ involvement in STEM and ICT fields.

China’s provincial and municipal governments are actively participating in the drive to recruit tech experts, with programs like the Kunpeng Plan in Zhejiang province and initiatives in other regions striving to attract talent with generous incentives, including rewards, funding, and housing support.

The program hopes to enhance teachers’ digital literacy, enabling them to effectively integrate technology into their teaching methods. As technology continues to play an increasingly integral role in society, this initiative recognizes the importance of empowering educators to effectively utilize digital tools for enhanced learning experiences.

Top destinations for international education are competing to attract foreign students, with Canada’s Tech Talent Strategy serving as a model. Streamlined paths to permanent residency and open work permits for graduates have made Canada an enticing destination for overseas students seeking quality education and career opportunities.
