Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and the University of New Brunswick (UNB) are teaming up to offer a new dual Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program in an effort to enhance global healthcare through cross-border education.

The program will allow students to earn a nursing degree from both India and Canada, providing them with the opportunity to practice in both countries.

According to a report released by Daijiworld, the program has been approved by the Indian Nursing Council. The program is designed to take four years to complete and will provide students with a rigorous curriculum delivered through a combination of online and face-to-face instruction.

Graduates will be eligible for licensing in New Brunswick, Canada, and will be able to practice in both Canada and India.

One of the key features of the program is that students will have the opportunity to complete their internship at the University of New Brunswick, which will give them valuable experience working in a Canadian healthcare setting.

This new partnership is expected to appeal to students who are looking for a challenging and rewarding educational experience that will enable them to work in various healthcare settings around the world.

Dr. Judith Angelitta Noronha, Dean of Manipal College of Nursing, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that MAHE had been seeking strategic partnerships to expand nursing education beyond domestic borders.

“This partnership extends our internationalization theme this year and will give students better knowledge exchange and training through the internship,” she said in a statement.

The partnership between MAHE and UNB appears to be part of the growing trend of international collaborations in higher education, particularly in areas that see growing demand in skills. In Australia, Health Workforce Australia (HWA) is predicting a shortage of over 100,000 nurses by 2025 and more than 123,000 nurses by 2030.
