IDP Education, an international provider of education services, has announced the successful acquisition of The Ambassador Platform, a United Kingdom-based technology company.

In a press release, the strategic acquisition empowers IDP to bolster its student placement operations, incorporating the vital element of peer-to-peer engagement, which is crucial in decision-making for students aiming for overseas education.

Tennealle O’Shannessy, CEO of IDP, emphasized the importance of peer influence in shaping students’ choices.

“In addition to IDP’s counselors, we know that students trust their peers for advice when making decisions as life-changing as studying overseas,” she said.

O’Shannessy elaborated that the acquisition of TAP would accelerate IDP’s plans to integrate peer-to-peer interaction into its student placement operations, thereby enhancing their services for both students and universities.

TAP specializes in providing a Software-as-a-Service platform to higher education institutions, facilitating seamless connections between current and prospective students.

The platform provides an array of features such as one-on-one and group chats, live streams, content collection and promotion, and comprehensive reporting. This empowers universities to effectively engage with their target audience.

George Olesen, CEO and co-founder of TAP, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with IDP, a global leader in international education.

“We started The Ambassador Platform to help higher education providers unlock the power of their students’ voices in their marketing and recruitment campaigns. This transaction will accelerate our efforts in this area and is an exciting milestone for the company,” he said.

The acquisition, valued up to £9 million ($11.14 million), was financed through IDP Education’s existing cash reserves. It is not projected to materially affect IDP’s financial status.

The announcement of this acquisition was authorized by a sub-committee of the IDP Board of Directors, signifying its strategic importance and alignment with IDP’s long-term vision of enhancing student experiences and strengthening its position as a leader in the international education sector.

IDP, an Australian-listed company, is a leading global education services provider operating in over 50 countries, dedicated to helping individuals achieve their international education goals.
