Harappa Education, a subsidiary of UpGrad, is set to launch an innovative artificial intelligence chatbot named thriveBOT, aiming to revolutionize the online learning experience.

thriveBOT’s mission
thriveBOT is designed to cater to learners in English, Hindi, and Hinglish, with a mission to elevate the educational journey of Thriversity, their online skills library.

“It’s an AI-powered chatbot fine tuned for English, Hindi and Hinglish, and the aim is to upgrade the learning experience of those who come onto Thriversity, our online skills library,” Pramath Raj Sinha, co-founder and chairman of Harappa Education, said in an interview with Financial Express.

“It will be initially available for select Thriversity cohorts, with access opened to other cohorts soon,” he added.

thriveBOT functions as a virtual teaching assistant, addressing the challenges faced by online learners, including providing real-time explanations, examples, and insights into various course concepts, frameworks and principles.

“It’s a personalized training assistant at no additional cost,” said Mayank Kumar, co-founder and managing director of UpGrad. “With the proliferation and high adoption of chatbots, this is no longer science fiction.”

Acquisition of Harappa Education
UpGrad acquired Harappa Education for Rs 300 crore (approximately $35.9 million) in 2022, strengthening its position in the online education sector, the report said.

Sinha highlighted that thriveBOT not only offers instant support but also distills complex concepts and videos into easily digestible information. It encourages critical thinking by addressing in-depth questions posed by learners.

Moreover, its proficiency in Hinglish makes it accessible to a wide range of learners.

Founded in 2018 by Shreyasi Singh and Pramath Raj Sinha, Harappa Education specializes in providing “thrive skills,” which encompass a range of cognitive, behavioral, and social skills necessary for individuals to excel in the workplace at every stage of their careers.

These thrive skills include teamwork, public speaking, effective communication, taking ownership, efficient prioritization, credibility, resilience, crisis management, etc.

“Both corporates and HR departments have started to realize that these skills are as important as technical skills, possibly more,” said Sinha.

Harappa Education operates in three main business lines, including enterprise services for MNCs and corporates, training individuals and small teams, and offering managerial training.

Additionally, Harappa Education runs the Accelerated Management Programme, an online MBA program for working professionals that can be completed in just six months.
