The United States government, in partnership with RTI International and the Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. (KCFI), have joined forces to boost the reading skills of kindergarten to third-grade students in the Philippines through radio and TV-based learning resources.

The project is part of a larger effort between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and KCFI to promote a culture of reading among Filipino children.

USAID will provide technical assistance, including educational materials and training modules, while RTI International will create interactive radio programs tailored to Filipino children’s needs. KCFI will develop television programs with high-quality content specifically designed for early-grade learners.

The partnership between the three parties aims to encourage practitioners and teachers to be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care and education to young children. They are confident that this partnership will benefit the students, teachers, and communities they serve. The provision of quality education resources to Filipino children through radio and TV broadcasts is seen as one of the best ways to close gaps in literacy levels and secure a brighter future for young Filipinos.
