The U.S. Africa Institute and Arizona State University have announced a strategic partnership with the aim of increasing educational opportunities and success for Black high school students and aspiring college-goers across the globe.

The joint initiative will utilize ASU’s Learning Enterprise programs, recognizing the pivotal role that college-level courses during high school play in boosting college enrollment rates, as per a press release.

By participating in the partnership, high school students will have the unique opportunity to take college-level courses specially designed by world-class ASU faculty, closely aligned with ASU degrees.

The most remarkable aspect of this collaboration is ASU’s Earned Admission, a revolutionary approach that extends the possibility of college education to all.

Regardless of their previous academic standing, learners can now take courses online from ASU’s leading faculty and earn college credits.

Students will only add these credits to their transcript upon successfully completing the course with a grade of C or better. After graduating high school and completing the required coursework, participants are guaranteed a spot at ASU or can transfer their earned credits towards a degree at another institution.

Tadios Belay, president and CEO of U.S. Africa Institute, expresses excitement about the partnership’s potential impact on learners and eagerly awaits the positive outcomes of this joint educational venture.

ASU’s Learning Enterprise, which already boasts over 310,000 enrolled learners worldwide, anticipates significant expansion in its capacity to serve students through this collaboration with the U.S. Africa Institute.

Maria Anguiano, executive vice president of ASU’s Learning Enterprise, emphasizes the mission of providing increased access to high-quality education and academic support for high school and aspiring college students.

She believes that the U.S. Africa Institute, known for advancing equity and strengthening democracy, is an ideal partner to connect learners to seamless paths to college.

The program is set to commence on August 1, marking the beginning of a transformative era in educational opportunities for Black students globally.
