The U.S. Refugee Admissions Program has established a new private-sponsorship category, the P4 visa, which will enable refugees to stay in the country after completing their studies and to be eligible for federal aid and employment opportunities. The program marks a departure from the F-1 visa system, which only permits international students to live in the United States temporarily.

Around 15,000 individuals, primarily refugees, have entered the Central African Republic from war-torn Sudan. Education Cannot Wait is supporting UNHCR-led initiatives in developing a multi-country, inclusive response to the regional refugee crisis. These initiatives involve the government, donors, UN agencies, civil society, and local communities.
