BridgeU, EAB partner to strengthen US college recruitment of int’l students

The strategic alliance aims to revolutionize the recruitment efforts of U.S. colleges by expanding their outreach to attract a more diverse pool of international undergraduate students

Experts across various countries and destination markets for students agree that it’s high time to set further standards and revisit the industry’s professional engagement with agents and counselors in the best interest of international students and their families. 

From student housing to digital financing solutions to virtual internships, international students now have a plethora of tech-enabled services catering to their needs, simplifying their global educational experience.

Associations like NAFSA, APAIE, and AIRC seek to proactively address the evolving needs of their members and the international education community. This includes providing resources, guidance, and support to educational institutions and professionals navigating the complexities of remote learning, travel restrictions, and changing international student dynamics.

The survey’s results indicate a notable rise from 2022, with 80 percent of surveyed international education professionals affirming that global engagement is integrated into their institution’s multi-year strategy. Moreover, 71 percent of respondents emphasized that the strategic focus of global engagement is aimed at enhancing the overall student experience.

The report highlights an interesting trend wherein more institutions are utilizing international partnerships (63 percent) and alumni networks (51 percent) to facilitate undergraduate student recruitment. At the graduate level, 77 percent of institutions consider India as their primary target market for the current academic year.

More than 200,000 Indian students, or more than 20 percent of all current overseas students in the United States, are enrolled in academic programs at American universities this year. The United States aims to further increase this number by raising the visa interview appointments for Indian students by another 30 percent.
