The Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia has called for urgent changes to Australia’s visa framework to better support international students in completing their studies. The proposed changes primarily revolve around the Subclass 408 visa, which allows foreign students to work in Australia without finalizing their studies.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has revamped the EB-5 Green Card Program to reduce processing times and backlogs. Despite a high rejection rate, these changes may make the program a more attractive pathway for international students holding an F-1 visa.

The visa stay period has been extended for different levels of qualifications. Bachelor degree graduates can now stay for up to four years, while master’s degree graduates can enjoy a longer stay of up to five years. Individuals with doctoral degrees will have the opportunity to stay for a maximum of six years.
