Saudi universities have witnessed the graduation of over 140,000 students from 160 different nationalities, said an official from the Saudi Ministry of Education.

In an introductory forum titled “Study in Saudi,” Dr. Sami Al-Haisouni, director of the scholarships department for non-Saudi students at the Ministry of Education, said more than 74,000 male and female students from various regions are actively engaged in their educational pursuits within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi universities’ commitment to quality education

Al-Haisouni said that the “Study in Saudi” forum underscores Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to providing world-class educational opportunities and fostering cultural exchange for international students.

He also noted the substantial efforts invested in supporting and empowering international students who have chosen Saudi Arabia as their educational destination.

Advancing research opportunities

The primary aim of the forum is to showcase the opportunities available for attracting exceptional students from around the world to study in Saudi universities. These institutions have made significant strides in various scientific domains, including research, innovation and entrepreneurship, both on a global and regional scale.

During the event, Saudi Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan emphasized Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in scientific research and innovation, attributing it to the support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. He stressed the importance of international collaboration and invited outstanding researchers and academicians to explore educational prospects within the Kingdom, emphasizing the diverse academic programs offered in colleges, universities and institutes.

Al-Benyan also underscored how the inclusion of international students, researchers, and trainees aligns with Saudi Arabia’s vision to advance its education sector and enhance its global reputation, particularly in line with the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, which centers on quality education.

Promoting cultural exchange

The minister highlighted the significance of learning Arabic as a global language and encouraged students to consider Saudi Arabia as an excellent destination for mastering it.

He noted that this endeavor contributes to a deeper understanding of the nation’s rich cultural heritage throughout the students’ educational journeys.

Al-Benyan urged international partners to take full advantage of the diverse educational offerings for international students, researchers and trainees as part of Saudi Arabia’s initiative to enrich education and foster cultural understanding and international cooperation. He welcomed input and suggestions to further enhance the academic experience within Saudi universities.
