The Korea Health Industry Development Institute has announced its recruitment of trainees for the 2023 class of the Medical Korea Academy e-class.

The online medical training course is designed for healthcare professionals from other countries. The objective of the program is to promote Korean medical excellence and enhance the international healthcare network, according to a report from Korea Biomedical Review.

Since its inception in 2007, KHIDI has been actively conducting the MKA training program, successfully transferring Korean medical technology to 703 overseas healthcare professionals from 32 countries until 2019.

In 2020, KHIDI shifted the MKA training program to an online platform due to the Covid-19 pandemic’s impact on global health.

Last year, the MKA e-Class witnessed active participation from 486 overseas healthcare professionals representing 45 countries.

Encouraged by this success, KHIDI has planned two sessions of the MKA e-Classes for this year.

The first session will be held from July to August, while the second session is scheduled for October to November.

Applicants, including doctors, nurses, medical students, hospital administrators, healthcare information system professionals, and health ministry officials, are eligible to apply.

The application period for each session will commence in June and September, respectively.

Interested individuals can submit their applications through the official KHIDI website, and there will be no separate course fee for participants, the report said.

The training curriculum covers a range of subjects, including surgical skills and internal medicine skills. The surgical skills courses encompass hepatobiliary and pancreatic (basic and advanced), gastrointestinal (basic and advanced), colorectal (basic and advanced), breast-thyroid, and trauma and surgical critical care.

The internal medicine skills courses consist of infection control, echocardiography, and endoscopy. Additionally, two non-clinical skills courses, namely healthcare ICT and hospital management, are also included in the training.

Three courses in internal medicine skills are also offered such as targeting infection control, echocardiography, and endoscopy. Additionally, two non-clinical skills courses, namely healthcare ICT and hospital management, are also included in the training.

According to a KHIDI official, the MKA e-Classes will serve as a valuable platform for overseas healthcare professionals to expand their medical expertise and raise awareness about the quality of Korean healthcare.

Furthermore, Korean institutions and organizations seeking to train overseas medical personnel can also take advantage of this online medical training course.

KHIDI actively engages in national initiatives aimed at promoting the growth of the domestic health industry, enhancing its global competitiveness, and ultimately enhancing the quality of life for individuals.
