Jeffrey Kahn, a prominent figure in the field of bioethics, has been named for a second term as the Andreas C. Dracopoulos Director of the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. Since 2016, Kahn has led the institute, enhancing its global reputation and fostering collaborations across Johns Hopkins University.

Under Kahn’s guidance, the Berman Institute achieved significant milestones:

Ethical COVID-19 Response: Collaborated with global partners to ensure ethical public health strategies during the pandemic.

Educational Funding: Secured the institute’s largest-ever donation, endowing educational programs and scholarships.

International Partnerships: Established a partnership on infectious disease ethics with the University of Oxford.

Innovative Initiatives: Launched the Dracopoulos-Bloomberg Bioethics iDeas Lab to pioneer novel approaches in bioethics communication.

Global Training: Initiated bioethics training programs for health professionals worldwide.

Kahn also expanded the master’s program, increased diversity among faculty, and led efforts for inclusion and equity. His reappointment reflects his exceptional leadership and commitment to advancing ethical discourse in the rapidly evolving landscape of health and science.
