Indonesia aims to expand global reach at NAFSA conference

The participation of Indonesian universities in NAFSA 2023 is anticipated to boost the academic collaborations and cultural exchanges of the country by promoting Indonesian universities globally.

Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology expands their access to tertiary institutions as stated during the 2023 NAFSA Conference & Expo.

The ministry sent delegates from 14 Indonesian universities to the annual conference recently held in Washington D.C., United States.

Professor Nizam, the ministry’s higher education, research and technology acting general director, stated that the participation of Indonesian universities in NAFSA 2023 is anticipated to boost the academic collaborations and cultural exchanges of the country by promoting Indonesian universities globally.

Among the universities participating in the event include the University of Indonesia, IPB University, Gadjah Mada University, Airlangga University, Padjadjaran University, Hasanuddin University, and the State University of Padang.

Additionally, the University of North Sumatra, Gunadarma University, Telkom University, University of Surabaya, Binus University, Manado State Polytechnic and Bali State Polytechnic also took part in the convention.

Nizam adds that through the presence of their country’s institutions, their country projects to foster more collaborations with other global institutions, businesses and industry stakeholders.

He also mentioned that expanding cooperation is crucial to bolster the advancement of academic, research, and innovation in Indonesia as well as enhance the nation’s human resources sector.

IPB University offers cooperation in courses, research, and community services at the NAFSA conference while the University of Indonesia showcases innovative learning programs.

Airlangga University not only showcases information about its programs but also instructs its delegates to actively foster collaborations with universities in the United States to explore different projects aimed to boost partnership opportunities.

Telkom University held in-depth discussions at the conference highlighting international mobility, collaborative research and double-degree programs.

Gunadarma University, on the other hand, showcases its academic and research excellence while Bali State Polytechnic establishes tie ups in teaching, research, and community services.

The NAFSA Association of International Educators is a non-profit organization focused on international education and exchange with 10,000 members from 3,500 educational institutions, spanning 160 countries.
