Physics Wallah, a preeminent educational platform in Bharat, has announced a significant partnership with ETS India earlier this January. This landmark collaboration, solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding, promises to open new doors for students aiming to pursue higher education at top global universities. ETS India, an arm of the renowned US-based Educational Testing Service, brings its expertise in educational assessments and research to the table.

This strategic alliance introduces “PW Unigo,” a pioneering initiative targeting students from tier II and tier III cities. Recognizing the challenges faced in these areas, such as limited awareness and mentoring resources, PW Unigo is poised to be a game-changer, offering comprehensive solutions to bridge these gaps.

Key features

Key features of this partnership include free individual counseling, streamlined registration processes, and advanced learning tools like practice tests and webinars with international universities. Additionally, students stand to benefit from merit scholarships worth Rs 20 lakh annually and significant discounts on GRE and TOEFL exam fees.

The collaboration also extends to specialized training for educators, equipping them to better prepare students for globally recognized tests like TOEFL and GRE. Gaurav Gularia, PW’s spokesperson, emphasized the partnership’s commitment to democratizing access to world-class education and aiding students in realizing their global academic dreams. Sachin Jain, Country Manager of ETS India & South Asia, highlighted the focus on providing superior GRE and TOEFL preparation resources to support aspirants in their international academic and professional journeys.

Revolutionizing the international student experience

In December 2023, ETS India forged another key partnership, this time with Bengaluru-based SaaS company Digii. As reported by the Financial Express, this collaboration, encapsulated in a memorandum of understanding, is poised to make a significant impact in the international education sector. By integrating ETS India’s assessments with Digii’s digital campus platform, Digiicampus, the partnership aims to revolutionize the study abroad application process for Higher Education Institutions.

This integration offers direct access to Digiicampus features, enhancing student engagement and simplifying document management workflows. The partnership’s scope includes joint marketing activities and expansion strategies to broaden educational opportunities globally. Sachin Jain, ETS India and South Asia’s country manager, sees this alliance as a strategic step in enhancing global educational prospects.

Partner HEIs of Digii, with institutional agreements with ETS India, will benefit from Digiicampus’s unique offerings like the Campus Social Network, Institutional Calendar, and Placement Management System. Hemant Sahal, founder and CEO of Digii, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, viewing it as a significant advancement in empowering higher education institutions.

With over 200,000 users, Digii’s Digiicampus platform is set to use advanced technologies to enrich the student experience, especially catering to the needs of Gen-Z students.

Growing influence of Indian students

The Indian education sector, bolstered by its large youth demographic and status as the world’s fifth-largest economy, is making an indelible mark on global education. A report by University Living indicates that Indian students’ overseas education spending in 2022 was around $47 billion, with projections of reaching $70 billion by 2025. This surge reflects the growing trend of Indian students pursuing education abroad, with numbers estimated to be between 1.5 to 2 million by 2025.

Indian students are increasingly exploring educational opportunities beyond the traditional ‘big four’ countries, venturing into destinations like Germany, Kyrgyzstan, and Ireland. This shift is partly due to a mismatch in the quality and quantity of India’s higher education system, prompting students to seek education abroad.

US for Success Coalition

In an interview with MSM Reporter, ETS CEO Amit Sevak has shed light on the formation of the US for Success Coalition. This coalition, comprising various organizations from the education, think tank, and advocacy sectors, aims to reestablish the US as a prime destination for global students while promoting diversity in higher education.

Sevak spoke about the coalition’s dedication to reversing the declining allure of the US for international students. The USSC, spearheaded by ETS, has outlined seven interconnected goals, including expanding the diversity of the international student community, policy advocacy, and equipping institutions with necessary resources.

The coalition’s strategy focuses on broadening international student enrollment across a diverse range of US institutions, including community colleges and minority-serving institutions. ETS plays a pivotal role in this initiative, aiming to reposition the US as the preferred choice for international students.

Sevak underscored the importance of international students in boosting local and state economies. The coalition plans to facilitate immigration pathways for these students, especially given the recent increase in Indian students studying in the US, as indicated by TOEFL and GRE data.
