Khyber Medical University in Peshawar and Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan, both located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan, have initiated programs to train Afghan students.

Pakistan launches BSc Midwifery program to tackle high maternal mortality rate

The Government of Pakistan’s Health Services Academy is introducing a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery program aimed at addressing the country’s elevated maternal mortality rate. Supported by international partners like UNFPA and WHO, the initiative aims to train 1,500 midwifery professionals.

During the specified period, a total of 24,722 Nigerians were granted sponsored study visas. Experts attribute this surge in interest among Nigerian students to factors such as the country’s intellectual potential, cost-effective workforce, substantial working population, significant diaspora remittances and the UK’s altered immigration landscape following its departure from the European Union.

The collaboration includes student exchanges, joint research, and setting up academic institutions to further enhance mutual benefits between the two nations.

Chaired by Senator Irfan Siddiqui, the Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training has given the nod to bills aimed at establishing new higher education institutions across the country.

This follows the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s expansion of accepted English proficiency tests beyond IELTS, offering international students more flexibility. The change, effective from Aug.10, simplifies application criteria and broadens the pathway for students aiming for Canadian residency and citizenship.

For the first time since 2018, the assembly was held in Macao, a key hub of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The event echoes the outline plan for the region which focuses on developing it as a model zone for high-quality education.
